UPDATE 1/12/25: I pulled the original order form for my ring this morning since I can't find a photo of it. Ordered from Artcarved. Style: Lady Legend. Had B.S. Recreation on one side, and Old Main and 1995 on the other side. 14K gold. The Pennsylvania State University on top around stone. Square, black onyx stone, bezel set. Engraved inside: Pamela J. Sheets. Ring is now made through Balfour; photo attached shows similar style. PHOTO: Not the actual ring, but similar. Would have the school's name around the edge, 1855, around the "more square" black onyx stone.

My college class ring was stolen in a home burglary in VA in 2012 along with most of my good jewelry, some of which were heirloom pieces handed down and some were gifts or pieces I purchased while traveling. The local police stated that the culprit told them that he took all the jewelry to Baltimore and sold it on the streets for drugs/money. I searched pawn shops and antique stores for years. He did pay restitution but the paltry amount couldn't replace much of anything.
I still have the ring's original order form from ArtCarved; I have considered buying a new one as I can almost match the original, about a 90% match. I keep hoping that this piece, which had my full name engraved inside, my class year, degree, etc. would have been saved by someone.
The ring had a square top, was 14k gold, with a black onyx inlaid stone. It was for the graduation year of 1995 from The Pennsylvania State University with the BS degree of Recreation and Park Management. Gold is worth so much now that it probably was too tempting not to melt for cash. UGH!
That ring meant a lot because I went back to school at 24 after a 5 year gap. I paid for my final three years on my own, excelled, and made lots of memories. I even moved back to the area to work in a high profile position and was super proud to represent the university locally. Maybe one day I'll purchase a replacement, but in the meantime, I still hold out hope!
